David Spitz grew up in Alamo, CA and graduated from Monte Vista High School in 1995. David played Football all four years of his high school career and joined the Track and Field team during the off-season of his Freshman year. By the time he left Monte Vista, he was the conference and league record holder in the shot put and discus and was also an All-NorCal selection in both events. David’s high school records in both the Shot Put and the Discus remained in place for 12 years before they were later broken by one of his athletes. David always believed he would play Football at the next level, but in the end he was offered more scholarships and opportunities for Track and Field.

David went on to become a Trojan at the University of Southern California earning a full-tuition scholarship. While at USC, he amassed numerous Pac-10 honors as well as competed for the USA National Team in the 1996 World Juniors in Sydney, Australia. He was voted USC Track and Field Team Captain for the 2000 Season and it wasn't until just recently that he was removed from the Top 10 Hammer Throws in USC's history. David graduated with a Bachelors of Arts from the Annenburg School of Communications.
After college, David began Olympic Weightlifting and competed in the 2006 American Open and the 2008 National Championships.

David worked at Merrill Lynch for 7 years in Personal Wealth Management and decided that in 2009 it was time to leave the company in order to manage California Strength full time. In two short years, he has built a business with strong ties into the community and that consistently produces incredible athletes of all ages. David is also currently the Throws Coach at De La Salle and has worked with many of the top throwers all over the Bay Area.
David is recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
